A small batch of yinzhen was taken to Wuyishan to take advantage of the more developed craft of charcoal firing, and was given a second bake. Otherwise this tea is identical to the Baihao Yinzhen Wuyangshan 2023! The overall effect is quite distinctive without being a sharp departure. We are looking forward to seeing how this batch ages in comparison to the regular version.

After a long survey of Fuding silver needles of the past several years, we have concluded that the cream of the crop is not in fact a hidden gem, but a place already held in the highest esteem. These baihao yinzhens come from an old-tree garden of Wuyang Mountain at more than 600 meters above sea level, and exhibit characteristics particular to its alpine environment. This small batch production is sun-withered and charcoal-baked, classic requirements for high level yinzhens.

With Wuyangshan yinzhens typically double the prices of Panxi area teas, we realize this is by no means cheap. But we feel it's important to offer teas such as these not only to point out where the ceiling might be, but in the hope that a wider audience enjoying the "heights" occasionally will also help us to appreciate the outstanding qualities of more everyday teas.
